Vipiteno Dumpling Festival - Canederli Festival in Sterzing/Vipiteno

Summer is drawing to a close and, as every year, the traditional Vipiteno Dumpling Festival returns. A festival that, for about 1,000 years on the second Sunday in September, has celebrated one of South Tyrol's best-loved specialities, the dumpling.

On Sunday 8 September, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the historic centre of the characteristic Alpine town in the Isarco Valley will host a 400-metre long table on which a rich variety of dumplings will be served.

Between the Old Town and the New Town, which make up the picturesque main street, in the Town Square and at Monte Cavallo, you will be able to enjoy around 70 different flavours of dumplings. From traditional bacon dumplings to those with asparagus, from dumplings that flood the air with the scent of mushrooms, herbs and cheese to more refined ones such as napkin dumplings. And, for those who don't want to give up dessert, we recommend apricot, nougat or ricotta dumplings.

All this will be accompanied by music, folk dancing and fun, let yourself be enveloped in the magical atmosphere of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy in South Tyrol.
