La Villa

La Villa: The Heart of Alta Badia Between Skiing, Culture, and Pure Nature

In the beating heart of Alta Badia, at an altitude of 1433 meters above sea level, lies La Villa (La Ila in Ladin), a charming alpine village surrounded by the peaks of Gardenaccia and Piz La Ila, on the borders of two extraordinary natural parks: Puez-Odle and Fanes-Senes-Braies. A place where nature reigns supreme, yet hospitality, sports, and culture coexist harmoniously.

Sports and Adrenaline: Between Slopes and Sky

An ideal destination for mountain lovers, La Villa is a true paradise for skiing: connected to the Sellaronda and close to 54 ski lifts and 130 km of perfectly snow-covered slopes, it is one of the most popular ski resorts in the Dolomites. Every winter, the famous Gran Risa slope hosts the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, attracting athletes and fans from all over the world.

But La Villa is not just about skiing. Thanks to the local flying school, you can soar over the mountains in a hang glider, choosing from tandem flights, weekly courses, or beginner routes. An exciting way to admire the Dolomites from a unique and breathtaking perspective.

Art, Faith, and Nobility: The Historic Part of the Village

In the historic center of La Villa, art and history meet in two symbolic places:

  • The Parish Church, an elegant expression of Ladin faith blending Gothic and Baroque art;
  • The majestic Castel Colz, also known as Ciastel Colz or Residenza Rubatsch, a Renaissance manor tied to the legendary figure of the knight Franz Wilhelm Brack, the "Gran Bracùn", a protagonist in the myths and stories of the Val Badia.
