Alpe di Siusi Sciliar: A Holiday of Nature, Sport and Dolomitic Villages
Welcome to one of the most extraordinary places in the Dolomites. The Alpe di Siusi Sciliar takes its name from the Sciliar massif — one of South Tyrol’s iconic peaks — and from the largest high-altitude plateau in Europe. With an impressive 52 km² of alpine meadows and pastures, it offers breathtaking views of the Catinaccio, the Sassolungo, and the majestic Marmolada.
Within this area, in addition to the Sciliar Nature Park, you’ll find some of the region’s most authentic and charming villages: Castelrotto, Siusi allo Sciliar, Fiè allo Sciliar, and Tires. With their traditional architecture, rich culture, and direct access to nature, these towns make the Alpe an ideal destination in every season.
Activities for Every Season: From Hiking to Skiing
Running Park: Running Among Forests and Hills
The plateau is not only to be admired — it’s to be lived. Running enthusiasts will love the Alpe di Siusi Running Park, which features 20 routes of varying difficulty and altitude:
- 12 trails between Castelrotto and Fiè, ranging from 900 to 1,100 metres
- 8 high-altitude routes at 1,800 metres, ideal for endurance and altitude training
An unmissable opportunity to combine fitness, well-being, and stunning landscapes.

Winter Sports: The Alpe di Siusi Ski Area
In winter, the Alpe transforms into a true white paradise, part of the vast Dolomiti Superski network. With 181 km of perfectly groomed slopes, it offers:
- Runs for every skill level
- Cross-country skiing trails
- A modern snowpark with 40 obstacles
- 79 fast, modern ski lifts
All framed by unforgettable panoramas, where every turn offers a different view of the Dolomites.
The Villages of the Alpe di Siusi: Between Fairy Tale and Reality
Castelrotto: The Historic Heart of the Alpe
Listed since 2018 among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, Castelrotto enchants visitors with its lively historic centre, full of artisan shops, museums, and living traditions. Its hamlets — like San Valentino and San Michele — offer peaceful corners surrounded by nature.
Siusi allo Sciliar: Between History and Postcard Views
This charming village is known as the gateway to the Alpe di Siusi, thanks to its modern panoramic cable car. From Siusi allo Sciliar, you can also reach Castelvecchio, the residence of poet Oswald von Wolkenstein, following a scenic path through lush greenery.
Fiè allo Sciliar: Where Water Meets the Mountains
Fiè is one of the most romantic spots in the area. The Lake of Fiè, swimmable in summer and enchanting in winter, is a favourite among those seeking relaxation and natural beauty. It’s also an ideal starting point for hikes in the Sciliar–Catinaccio Nature Park.
Tires: Enrosadira and Dolomitic Magic
At the foot of the Catinaccio, Tires is the perfect place to experience the authentic South Tyrolean atmosphere. Here, at sunset, you can witness the enrosadira — when the Dolomite walls glow pink. A unique spectacle to enjoy during a walk through the village or from the panoramic meadow of “Proa”.
The Alpe di Siusi Sciliar is a place to truly feel alive — between sky and mountains, history and nature.
