Spas in South Tyrol:
relax and well-being amidst thermal waters and nature

In South Tyrol, spas represent a centuries-old tradition focused on well-being. Once known as "rustic baths", many thermal springs are now abandoned, but the Province has undertaken an important effort to enhance the existing ones. Access routes have been created, and informative signs have been installed that tell the story of these waters, their composition, and benefits.

Despite the passage of time, some spa locations have preserved their appeal and continue to be landmarks for wellness tourism. Let’s explore them together!

San Vigilio di Marebbe Spa

The sulfur mineral baths of Marebbe are located in a charming environment, surrounded by larch, fir, and spruce forests. Despite a troubled history – marked by landslides and world wars – these spas have managed to regenerate, offering a unique wellness experience today.

The mineral water flows at 6.5°C, it is sulphate and calcium, and contains barium and bromine. Being hydropinic, it is also ideal for drinking during treatments.

  • Sulfur baths in quartzite tubs
  • Hydromassage
  • Bio Sauna
  • Inhalations

The traditional wooden tubs, used for centuries, have now been replaced by modern quartzite tubs covered with larch, enhancing the beneficial effects on skin and rheumatism.

Moso Baths in Sesto

Sesto, and particularly the hamlet of Moso, boasts a long spa tradition. As early as the 1900s, there were three springs:

  • Augenquelle
  • Magenwasser
  • Sulfur spring

Today, only the latter is still active, with water flowing at 1,950 meters and reaching the Hotel Bad Moos, where guests can benefit from it.

Water Characteristics

The high concentration of sulfur, magnesium, calcium, and fluoride makes it one of the richest thermal waters in South Tyrol.

Available Treatments

  • Hydrokinetotherapy
  • Balneotherapy
  • Hydropinic therapies
  • Inhalations

Due to the high content of fluoride, it is recommended for preventing cavities in children and for pregnant women.
