Sellaronda Bike Day: Ride among the giants of the Dolomites

June 7, 2025
Selva di Val Gardena

Imagine an entire day where the legendary Dolomite mountain passes are closed to traffic, open only to you, your bike, and the rhythm of your breath. On June 7, 2025, the Sellaronda Bike Day returns — the non-competitive cycling event that draws thousands of enthusiasts from around the world to experience the thrill of riding through the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.

An unforgettable scenic ride

The circular route covers four iconic Dolomite passes — Gardena, Sella, Pordoi, and Campolongo — for a total of about 53 kilometers, best tackled counterclockwise. You don’t need to be an athlete: the event is open to everyone, from experienced cyclists to families with children, with the sole aim of enjoying the mountains on two wheels in total freedom and safety.

A car-free day: Pure nature and adrenaline

From 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the mountain passes will be closed to motorized traffic, letting you immerse yourself in nature without noise, smog, or stress. Along the way, you’ll find refreshment points, technical support, and the warm hospitality of the Dolomite valleys: Val Gardena, Val Badia, Arabba, and Val di Fassa.

Tips to enjoy the Sellaronda Bike Day at its best

  • Start early to avoid the midday heat.
  • Choose the right bike: road, gravel, or e-bike for less experienced riders.
  • Wear technical clothing and bring a windbreaker: at over 2,200 meters, the weather can change quickly.
  • Don’t forget your camera: every turn reveals a postcard-worthy view!

The Sellaronda Bike Day is not a race: there are no bibs, timers, or prizes — just the joy of sharing and the beauty of cycling in one of Europe’s most iconic mountain landscapes. It’s an experience you should live at least once in your life.
