The thermal waters of Anterselva: Wellness at the Bagni di Salomone
In the splendid setting of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park, one of South Tyrol’s most fascinating protected areas, sulfurous waters spring forth with renowned healing properties. We are in Anterselva, a valley still untouched by mass tourism — perfect for those seeking peace, unspoiled nature and the regeneration of body and spirit.
Historical origins and modern revival
The thermal waters of Anterselva have been known since 1559, when they were already used in simple rustic baths. In the 18th century, physician Xaver von Knöring from Bressanone documented their benefits in an official report. After a landslide destroyed the first establishment in 1820, the facility was rebuilt nearby, where today stands a modern thermal hotel, about 1 km from Anterselva di Sotto, in the municipality of Rasun.
A gift from the mountain: The rock and the spring
The water flows from a gneiss formation, a type of granitic rock composed of various mineral layers — including quartz — which slowly release their properties. This natural process gives the water a unique composition, enriched with traces of radon, a noble gas present in therapeutic concentrations.
Properties and official recognition
The Italian Ministry of Health has officially certified the Anterselva water as thermal mineral water (D.D. 4318 of 25/07/2019), recognizing its curative qualities. Among its features is the constant temperature of about 8°C, making it ideal for various therapeutic treatments.
Wellness paths: Cures and treatments
The Anterselva water is the focus of several natural treatments:
- Kneipp paths on Dolomite stones to stimulate circulation;
- Hydropinic therapy, through the controlled intake of the water;
- Balneotherapy, useful for treating rheumatism, osteoporosis and disorders of the musculoskeletal system;
- Benefits also extend to the genital and reproductive system.
All treatments take place in an extraordinary alpine setting, where the silence of the woods and the pure mountain air complete an experience that goes beyond physical wellbeing, nurturing the soul as well.
Anterselva awaits you for a unique thermal experience, where alpine nature becomes your most powerful ally for regeneration.
