Rasun: Wellbeing amid the nature of the Anterselva Valley

Rasun, with its hamlets Rasun di Sotto, Rasun di Sopra and Novecase, is a charming village in South Tyrol lying at the entrance to the Valle di Anterselva. Here, the landscape opens onto green meadows, silent forests and unspoiled nature that offers emotions in every season. The fresh air, tranquil atmosphere and harmony with the environment make Rasun an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation and authenticity.

Hiking, biodiversity and healing springs

The area is part of the magnificent Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park, a paradise for hikers and trekking enthusiasts. One of its most fascinating sites is the Rasun Biotope, a protected area that hosts numerous plant and animal species: walking along its trails, you can experience nature still in its purest form.

Rasun is also a place of wellbeing, thanks to its natural thermal springs, known since ancient times. A regenerating experience for body and mind, surrounded by the silence of a valley with timeless charm.

Castles between history and legend

The charm of Rasun has deep medieval roots. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1050, when it was called Resine or Resina, and later Rasene. However, archaeological finds — such as a Neolithic axe — testify to human presence in much earlier times.

In Rasun di Sotto you can admire the ruins of the Castello di Rasun Vecchia, built around 1200 by the Lords of Rasun. Its commanding position above the church offers an enchanting view of the landscape. Over time, the castle became a court seat and was inherited by several noble families, including the Counts of Welsperg.

Moving on to Rasun di Sopra, you’ll find the remains of the Castello di Rasun Nuova, also built in the 13th century. Today, its restored walls tell ancient stories and preserve the memory of a chivalric past that still lives on.

An authentic corner of alpine history and silence

Rasun is the ideal starting point for experiencing the mountains in all their facets: nature, history and wellbeing blend in perfect harmony, ready to welcome you for an unforgettable holiday.
