Terento: The sunny village of the Val Pusteria

The village’s name derives from the Latin torrentum, meaning “wild stream,” a clear reference to the landscape shaped by water and steep slopes. The first official mention of Terento dates back to the year 1000, when Count Otto of Andechs donated four farmsteads to Bishop Gottschalk of Freising, as recorded in a manuscript from the time.
