Christmas Markets in South Tyrol 2026/2027

Walther Square and the old town fill with illuminated huts, South Tyrolean crafts and the scent of strudel, Zelten and mulled wine. The market, now in its 35th edition, is completed by the Christmas Park, music and activities for families.

Along the Passirio Promenade, between the Kurhaus, the Thermal Baths and Piazza della Rena, the Christmas huts accompany Advent in Merano. Crafts, decorations and regional specialities meet concerts and events, in the elegant atmosphere of the spa town.

In front of the Cathedral and the Hofburg, the huts of Piazza Duomo celebrate their 35th edition. Crafts from the Isarco Valley, mulled wine and Krapfen, choirs and music bring the old town to life, while the Light & Music Show at the Hofburg adds a cultural highlight to the season.

From Via Bastioni through Tschurtschenthaler Park to Oberragen, the Brunico Christmas Market links several parts of the old town into one Advent stroll. Wood, leather, glass and ceramic crafts sit alongside mulled wine, Zelten and Strauben, with music and Val Pusteria traditions.

Beneath the Torre delle Dodici, around 35 stalls bring Piazza Città to life among colourful façades and snowy Alpine views. South Tyrolean crafts, woodwork, decorations and regional specialities accompany an Advent marked by the chimes of the tower’s carillon.

The centre of Ortisei becomes a small Christmas village in the heart of the Dolomites. Among decorated huts and lights, the stalls offer regional specialities, Advent sweets and gift ideas, with Val Gardena woodcarving taking centre stage.

At Mountain Christmas in Selva di Val Gardena, the world of skiing becomes part of the Christmas decorations: illuminated and decorated cable car cabins shape the village centre, and a long chain of lights completes an Advent atmosphere closely tied to the Alpine character of the valley.

With Adöm te plaza, on selected days, the centre of San Cassiano turns into a small Ladin Christmas village. In the traditional Üties, local craftspeople and associations offer handmade products and local specialities, with music and the winter scenery of Alta Badia.

In the Capuchin Garden, craftspeople, farmers and creatives from the area bring the family-friendly Sterntaler Christmas Market to life. Gift ideas, crafts, hot drinks and typical dishes meet creative activities and music for families.

At the foot of the Alpe di Siusi, on selected days, the village square in Castelrotto hosts a small market with views of the Dolomites. Carved wooden figures, decorations, wool products and herbal teas go hand in hand with Castelrotto Krapfen, Lebkuchen and mulled wine.

For four days, South Tyrol’s smallest town celebrates Advent within its intact medieval walls. Between the main square, the arcades and the narrow lanes, regional exhibitors offer crafts, gift ideas and specialities from Val Venosta.

On selected days, the huts of the Renon Christmas Train recall the historic carriages of the Renon railway. The market’s locations on the plateau are linked by that very train, combining railway nostalgia with the Advent atmosphere.

A few kilometres from Merano, the church square becomes Lagundo’s Christmas meeting point. Regional crafts, culinary specialities and live music create a quiet, family-friendly alternative to the larger markets.

About 20 kilometres from Bolzano, Alpine Advent in Sarentino tells the story of authentic South Tyrol: small wooden huts, live craft workshops, traditional music and specialities from the valley, alongside Sarentino crafts in wood, wool and mountain pine.

On selected days, lanterns, candles and fir branches light up the medieval lanes of Chiusa. The Advent in the alleys combines market stalls, historic façades and atmospheric cellars into a particularly authentic Advent.

The Martello Advent is no longer held. At Enzianalm, 2,061 metres up in Stelvio National Park, it was one of South Tyrol’s most unusual Christmas markets, with crafts, the scent of spices and fir, and specialities from the valley against a snow-covered backdrop. In winter, Val Martello remains a destination for peace and quiet mountain scenery.

Christmas Magic at Lake Carezza is no longer held due to unresolvable traffic problems. At 1,534 metres, between Catinaccio and Latemar, small huts, lanterns and Christmas music once accompanied visitors along the path around the lake. Smaller events and concerts still take place in Val d’Ega during Advent.

On two Advent weekends, the walls of Tyrol Castle above Merano provide the setting for a Christmas market of traditional crafts, South Tyrolean specialities, music and regional culture, in one of the most atmospheric locations in South Tyrol.

Under the historic arcades and in the old centre of Egna, on Advent weekends, stalls with regional products and gift ideas create a small, welcoming Christmas that pairs well with a stroll along the Wine Road.

Laives also marks the Advent season with lights, small Christmas events and the traditional nativity trail, which winds through the town and its hamlets. The dates for a dedicated Christmas market have not yet been published.

On Advent weekends, Caldaro’s main square brings residents and guests together among farmers’ and craft stalls, regional food and a programme of events, with the welcoming atmosphere of the wine village on the Wine Road.

Among historic buildings and snow-capped Dolomite peaks, on selected days the pedestrian zone of San Candido hosts a traditional Advent: local crafts, wood carvings, decorations and South Tyrolean culinary specialities.
