Christmas Markets in Lana
From 28 November 2025 to 31 December 2025
In the heart of South Tyrol, the small town of Lana transforms into an enchanted village during the weekends of Advent. Starting on 28 November, the pedestrian area in the town centre fills with soft lights, spicy scents and Christmas melodies. It’s time for the “Thalerhof Market”, the Christmas Market that captivates young and old alike with its intimate, fairy-tale atmosphere.
A market inspired by the tale “Star Money”
The main theme of Christmas in Lana is the touching fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, “Star Money”: the story of an orphan girl who, by giving away everything she has to those in need, is rewarded with a sky full of stars that turn into gold coins. A message of generosity and hope perfectly embodied by the market itself.
In the Capuchin Garden, one of the town’s most charming spots, this tale comes to life in a magical setting. And who knows—you might even spot the Star Money girl walking through the streets, handing out Christmas lottery tickets, the proceeds of which go to the “Cuore di bimbo” (Heart of a Child) association.
A programme full of emotion
The Lana Christmas Market is much more than just a market. Alongside the traditional wooden stalls with local crafts, sweets and mulled wine served in beautiful collectible mugs, you’ll find a rich programme of events:
- Parade of St. Nicholas with the little Krampus
- Living Nativity and Shepherds’ procession
- Children’s performances
- Christmas carols and choirs
- Ice-skating rink in the Town Square
An extra touch of magic? The entire lighting design of the old town is by artist and designer Herward Dunkel, who gives Lana a uniquely fairy-tale glow.
The New Year’s toast
On 31 December, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the food stands stay open to welcome you with the year’s final delights. Amid music, raised glasses and smiles, Lana invites you to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one in the warmth of a truly festive atmosphere.
