Christmas Markets in Ortisei

During the most wonderful time of the year, Ortisei transforms into a fairy-tale village: its elegant pedestrian area comes alive with the wooden stalls of the Christmas Markets, glowing lights and traditional music, in an atmosphere filled with the scent of cinnamon, wood and sweet childhood memories.

The Dolomites of Val Gardena, silent and majestic, form the perfect backdrop for this enchanting scene where time seems to slow down. Strolling among the stalls, you can savour local delicacies and take a relaxing break in the cosy “Lodenlounges”—the typical wooden huts serving mulled wine, “bombardini” and spiced juices.

Craftsmanship and timeless traditions

The true highlight of the markets is Val Gardena’s artistic craftsmanship, world-famous for its wooden nativity scenes and sculptures. In Parish Square, you can admire a life-size hand-carved nativity scene, a symbol of local identity and artistry.

Throughout the Advent season, Ortisei offers a rich programme of events: craft and biscuit-making workshops for children, Christmas concerts featuring mountain choirs and young musicians, exhibitions and much more.

Magic for the whole family

For the little ones, every day brings a surprise with the giant Advent calendar in Stetteneck Square: 24 windows opening one by one to reveal sweets, drawings, rhymes and small gifts. And don’t miss the Christmas letter mailbox, ready to send wishes straight to the North Pole!

Ortisei is part of the Mountain Christmas event, which also includes Selva di Val Gardena and Santa Cristina, spreading the Christmas magic throughout the valley.
