Christmas Markets in Bolzano
Hundreds of colourful lights illuminate the streets, alleys and squares of the old town, while the enveloping scent of mulled wine and spiced biscuits blends with the crisp winter air. Choirs and Christmas melodies echo in the distance, guiding you towards one of the most anticipated events of the year: the Bolzano Christmas Markets.
On 28 November at 5:00 p.m., the city opens its doors to the magic of Advent with a programme full of emotions, flavours, lights and traditions.
Walther Square: The beating heart of Christmas
The Bolzano Christmas Market, the largest and most renowned in Italy, takes place as always in the charming Walther Square, transformed for the occasion into an enchanted village. More than 80 exhibitors offer Christmas delicacies, warm drinks and true masterpieces of local craftsmanship: nativity scenes, blown-glass ornaments, wooden figurines, handmade candles, felt slippers, original gift ideas and much more.
Next to the square, don’t miss Palazzo Campofranco: a spectacular area where the stalls blend with a fairy-tale setting.
A journey through solidarity, tradition and creativity
Continuing along the Christmas route, you’ll reach Municipio Square, where a market dedicated exclusively to handmade crafts awaits—perfect for anyone looking for authentic, high-quality gifts.
In Grano Square and Argentieri Street, you’ll find the Solidarity Market, where the Christmas spirit beats for the common good: local associations sell handcrafted items made with passion, with proceeds going to social and humanitarian projects both in Italy and abroad.
An Advent to experience step by step
A great place to start your visit? The South Tyrol Marketing building, where each year a giant Advent calendar is displayed. From there, let the lights and music lead you along a Christmas itinerary that warms the heart.
Come to Bolzano and let yourself be enchanted by one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe. A festive city awaits to gift you emotions, tradition and a touch of magic.
