Parcines: History, spirituality and breathtaking views at the gateway to the Val Venosta
Located at 642 m a.s.l., just a few kilometres from Merano, Parcines opens like a fan over the Val Venosta, embraced by extraordinary landscapes ranging from 500 metres to the 3,337 m of Mount Hochwart, the highest peak of the Tessa Group Nature Park. The municipality includes the hamlets of Rablà, Monte Sole, Tel, Quadrato, Vallettina and Tablà, each with its own character and peculiar charm.
Churches and noble residences: echoes of a prestigious past
Parcines tells its story through sacred architecture and stately homes, set in a breathtaking natural landscape.
Church of Saints Peter and Paul
The Parish Church of Parcines, mentioned for the first time in 1264, was rebuilt in Late Gothic style in 1502. Inside, it houses valuable sculptures and frescoes that narrate the faith and art of the past.
Church of St. James in Rablà
Built in 1513 in Gothic style, this church features two 16th-century sundials on its exterior façade. Inside, visitors can admire two altarpieces depicting St. James and St. Margaret.
Church of St. Helena in Tel
A Gothic jewel, it preserves a statue of the saint herself, two Neo-Gothic altars and a wooden crucifix from the 17th century.
The historic residences of Parcines
- Spauregg Castle (12th century): surrounded by a park with Mediterranean vegetation, this noble residence recalls the splendour of bygone times.
- Gaudententurm: built in the 12th century, it once belonged to the Lords of Parcines. Today it is the private property of the von Sölder family.
- Stachelburg Residence: one of the oldest buildings in the municipality, now home to a wine estate managed by Baron Sigmund von Kripp.
Parcines is a place where the beauty of the landscape blends with historical heritage — among castles, churches and noble residences. Walking through its streets or exploring its hamlets means stepping into an authentic world, where every corner tells a story and every view offers unforgettable emotions.
