Obereggen and Ega: Nature, adventure, and skiing at the foot of the Latemar
Located at an altitude of 1,561 meters, Obereggen is one of the most beloved ski resorts in South Tyrol. The first ski lifts were built at the end of the 1960s, and since then the area has evolved into the modern and well-organized Ski Center Latemar. With 46 km of perfectly groomed slopes, 18 fast, high-capacity lifts connect the runs of Obereggen with those of Pampeago and Predazzo.
The fun on the snow doesn’t end with sunset: illuminated ski and toboggan runs await you at night too, letting you experience the magic of après-ski under the stars.
Tobogganing, cross-country skiing, and plenty of fun
The Ski Center Latemar isn’t just about downhill skiing. Here you can also enjoy cross-country skiing, with over 100 km of panoramic trails that are always well-maintained. If you’re looking for a fun experience to share with friends or family, try one of the four dedicated toboggan runs, perfectly prepared and safe for all ages.
When winter retreats, nature bursts into life
With the arrival of spring, the slopes turn into green meadows dotted with larch and spruce forests, creating a wonderful contrast with the Latemar peaks, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lifts remain open in summer, giving access to spectacular viewpoints and the many hiking trails winding through meadows and woods.
Among the most popular experiences is the Obereggen Adventure Forest: three courses suspended among the trees, with 25 stations that test your balance, agility, and courage… and often it’s the youngest who come out victorious!
Ega: A village in the heart of the forest
Just 3 km from Obereggen, Ega (1,120 m a.s.l.) is a small, enchanting village nestled in the forests of the Nova Ponente plateau. A convenient free shuttle service connects it to the Ski Center Latemar, making it the perfect base for a peaceful, nature-filled holiday.
In summer, Ega is the ideal starting point for scenic hikes and mountain bike tours. The Parish Church dedicated to Saint Nicholas, protector against natural disasters, reflects the deep bond between the village and the surrounding nature, through which several quiet streams flow.
Between skiing, forests, and legends: Experience the magic of the Latemar
Obereggen and Ega await you for a journey filled with emotion and unforgettable views. In winter, you can enjoy the snowy slopes and the thrill of a moonlit descent; in summer, you’ll lose yourself among the Latemar’s trails, scented forests, and clear skies. A holiday here is an immersion in authentic nature, where every season tells a different story. All that’s left is to live it.
