Christmas Markets in South Tyrol
The traditional Christmas Markets in South Tyrol are an unmissable event. Every year, the five most renowned towns in the region—Bolzano, Merano, Bressanone, Brunico, and Vipiteno—along with several lesser-known yet equally picturesque villages, are beautifully decorated for the festive season.
Starting from November 27, the streets of South Tyrolean towns will be filled with the magical Christmas spirit: the scent of cinnamon, spices, and mulled wine will mingle with the sweet melodies of traditional carols in a truly fairy-tale setting. A rich calendar of events and activities, designed for both adults and children, promises unforgettable moments that will warm your heart.
Stroll among the stalls and charming wooden huts, where you’ll find handcrafted gifts and delicious local food specialties. Treat yourself to delicacies like apple strudel, zelten (a traditional fruitcake made with dried fruit, walnuts, pine nuts, and almonds), and Lebkuchen, the famous spiced cookies.
These cookies are traditionally shaped in five different forms, each representing a South Tyrolean town: the angel for Bolzano, the lamb for Bressanone, the star for Brunico, the bell for Merano, and the tower for Vipiteno.
Let yourself be enchanted by the magic and festive atmosphere of the Christmas Markets in South Tyrol.
