Public transport in South Tyrol

If you're planning a vacation in South Tyrol and want to get around comfortably without a car, the public transport network of the province of Bolzano is efficient, punctual and well organized.

Railway and bus network

The main railway lines include:

  • Bolzano–Merano
  • Bolzano–Brennero
  • Bolzano–Verona
  • Fortezza–San Candido

For locations not served by train, a vast network of urban and intercity buses is available that effectively connects the entire South Tyrolean territory.

Mobilcard: Travel without limits

The South Tyrol Mobilcard is the ideal solution for those wishing to explore the region using public transport. Available for 1, 3 or 7 consecutive days, it allows unlimited use of:

  • Regional and fast regional trains up to Trento
  • Urban, intercity and city buses
  • PostAuto Switzerland bus line between Malles and Müstair

The Mobilcard can be purchased online via the AltoAdigeMobilità app, at authorized sales points, tourist offices and automatic ticket machines at railway stations.

Useful tips

  • Validation: Remember to validate the Mobilcard at the beginning of each trip.
  • Pets: Dogs must be kept on a leash and, if medium or large sized, equipped with a muzzle. The purchase of a separate ticket is required for transporting animals.
  • Bicycles: To transport a bicycle on public transport, it's necessary to purchase a specific daily ticket at the cost of €7.00.
