Tourist tax in South Tyrol: How much does it cost?
Since January 1, 2025, the tourist tax in South Tyrol has increased. Rates vary based on the category of accommodation facility and the municipality of reference.
Updated rates
- 4-star, 4-star superior and 5-star facilities: €3.00 per person per night.
- 3-star, 3-star superior, 5-flower or 5-sun facilities: €2.50 per person per night.
- Other accommodations: €2.00 per person per night.
Exemptions
The following are exempt from paying the tourist tax:
- Minors up to 14 years of age.
- Staff who stay overnight at the establishment where they work.
- People who stay overnight in accommodation facilities following natural disasters.
- People attending mandatory internships at public training institutes of the Province or participating in educational projects of the same.
- People who reside in the municipality and temporarily stay in a facility due to housing problems.
Note: Some municipalities may provide additional exemptions or specific conditions.
Payment methods
- The tourist tax is collected by accommodation facilities upon the guest's departure.
- The payment must be indicated separately on the invoice.
- Facilities are required to pay the amount collected to the relevant municipality within 15 days from the end of each month.
