The Chestnut Festival
19.10.2025 - 02.11.2025 Lana, Foiana, Tesimo-Prissiano – South Tyrol

Keschtnriggl: The Chestnut Festival

The festival takes its name from the Keschtnriggl, an old basket made of chestnut wood traditionally used to peel roasted chestnuts — a symbol of a culture rooted in respect for nature and its precious fruits.

A celebration of flavour, nature, and culture

Over two festive weeks, the program includes:

  • Themed hikes through forests painted in autumn colors
  • Gastronomic events featuring chestnut-based dishes (both traditional and creative)
  • Concerts by local brass bands
  • Chestnut Educational Trail in Foiana: a family-friendly path with 10 interactive stations
  • Farmer’s markets and local crafts

The Grand Finale in Foiana

The highlight of the Keschtnriggl is the big celebration in Foiana: traditional music, rustic dishes made with chestnuts, local crafts, and the unmistakable autumn charm of Meranerland.

Don’t miss this vibrant celebration of South Tyrolean autumn — rich in color, scent, and flavor.
