Keschtnriggl – Chestnut Festival 2026
From 15 October to 8 November 2026, chestnuts once again take centre stage in Tisens-Prissian (Tesimo-Prissiano), Völlan (Foiana) and Lana. During the traditional Keschtnriggl Chestnut Days, special attention is devoted to the Tisner Kescht, the local chestnut from Tisens.
The event takes its name from the Keschtnriggl, a traditional basket woven from chestnut and hazel wood that has been used in South Tyrol for centuries to peel freshly roasted chestnuts.
Flavours, nature and South Tyrolean traditions
Throughout the Chestnut Days, visitors can enjoy a varied programme celebrating one of autumn’s most characteristic fruits. Selected restaurants serve both traditional dishes and more contemporary creations featuring chestnuts, while guided hikes, tastings and special events offer the chance to discover the culture and landscapes of this part of South Tyrol.
Highlights include:

- food and wine events dedicated to chestnuts and local wines
- brewery tours with chestnut beer tastings
The Chestnut Festival in Völlan
One of the most eagerly awaited events is the Chestnut Festival in Völlan, taking place on 18 October 2026. Traditional music, a farmers’ market, demonstrations of historic crafts, rustic local dishes and chestnut specialities create an authentic South Tyrolean autumn atmosphere.
The chestnut-growing region is also well worth exploring beyond the festival itself. Around Tisens-Prissian, Völlan and Lana, walking trails wind through autumn forests, vineyards and chestnut groves.
