Snow Sculpture Festival
January 2026 San Vigilio di Marebbe

International Snow Sculpture Festival

Every January, the charming Alpine village of San Vigilio di Marebbe turns into an open-air art gallery during the International Snow Sculpture Festival.

Artists from all over the world gather in the heart of the Dolomites, equipped with saws, wire, and shovels, to carve striking sculptures from 3x3 meter blocks of packed and frozen snow. They have just three days to complete their creations, which are then illuminated at night and judged by both locals and visitors.

These snowy masterpieces are placed in the most scenic corners of the village, where they remain on display until the arrival of spring, when rising temperatures slowly melt them away.

Thanks to its originality and magical atmosphere, the festival has become a must-see event for art lovers, photographers, and mountain enthusiasts alike.

In addition to San Vigilio di Marebbe, the festival also takes place in other iconic South Tyrolean locations, such as San Candido and Val Gardena, adding a touch of creativity and wonder to the winter season.
