Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride

Between medieval castles and fairytale landscapes in the heart of the Seiser Alm Dolomites region, preparations are underway at the end of spring and the beginning of summer for the 43rd edition of the traditional riding tournament.

A unique event that brings together history, sport, tradition and culture: the famous Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride, a knightly tournament in honour of the poet and singer Oswald von Wolkenstein.

Against the unique backdrop of the Dolomites and in front of an enthusiastic audience with applause, flags, drums and cheers, you can experience the great spectacle of a folk festival on Sunday, May 30, with horses and riders in traditional costumes bringing the atmosphere of the Seiser Alm holiday region to life.

In the villages of Kastelruth, Seis, Völser Weiher and Prösels Castle, 36 teams, each with 4 riders from all over South Tyrol, compete against each other in 4 tournaments. They must demonstrate skill, speed and precision to secure the banner in the shortest possible time.

The winning team keeps the banner for one year. The award ceremony takes place at Prösels Castle with a ceremony in perfect medieval style.
