Gustav Mahler Music Weeks 2025 – Music and inspiration among the Dolomites
The Gustav Mahler Music Weeks 2025 celebrate their 45th edition, confirming their place as one of the most refined and evocative events of the summer cultural season in South Tyrol. From July 12 to August 5, the charming town of Dobbiaco becomes a prestigious stage for classical music, honoring the Bohemian-Austrian composer who found inspiration here for some of his final masterpieces.
A festival in the heart of the Dolomites
Founded in 1981, the festival takes place at the Cultural Centre Grand Hotel of Dobbiaco, where the Gustav Mahler Hall hosts world-class symphonic and chamber music concerts. The 2025 edition opens with a performance by the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Vienna, conducted by Michael Lessky, featuring mezzo-soprano Marlen Bieber.
Unique cultural experiences
In addition to concerts, the program includes an international symposium on the theme "Mahler and Humor", musicological conferences, and a musical excursion to the historic Mahler Composition Hut in Carbonin Vecchia, where the composer wrote masterpieces such as Das Lied von der Erde (The Song of the Earth) and the Ninth Symphony.
