Keschtnriggl – It’s all about the chestnut
The Chestnut Fair, as it has been every year and in keeping with tradition for 26 years, returns to South Tyrol. In Lana, Tesimo-Tisens, Prissiano-Prissian and Foiana-Völlan from 15th October to 5th November you will have the opportunity to discover the chestnuts. This event is called Keschtnriggl and shows guests the culture and the traditions that bind this region to the chestnut.
The name of the festival comes from an object usually used for peeling chestnuts: the Keschtnriggl.
A rich programme of events awaits you, such as themed excursions, gastronomic appointments, cooking classes and many other events will introduce you to this extraordinary food. It will be possible to explore the forests, which during this time of year are painted in magnificent autumnal colours with the help of a forest ranger; take part in concerts, and taste chestnut-based menus, which re-propose old-fashioned recipes but reinterpreted in a modern key..
The highlight of the event is the Festival in Foiana-Völlan. Traditional music, farmer’s market, ancient handicrafts, traditional peasant dishes and much more.
